I believe everyone should feel valued and empowered within the classroom, regardless of their age or ability. Every person should be given the opportunity to learn, but not in the same way or at the same pace- we are individuals and when educators embrace that they make a true connection with their students and that’s when learning begins.

With over 20 years of dedicated experience in education, I am Donna Tyrrell, an enthusiastic educator deeply committed to making a positive difference in the lives of children, including those with disabilities.

Throughout my career, I have had the honour of teaching at both primary and high school levels, allowing me to connect with students at various stages of their educational journey. My experience has equipped me with a unique understanding of diverse learning needs, enabling me to cater to a wide range of students, including those with disabilities.

In my leadership roles as Coordinator and Aboriginal Education Coordinator, I have organized and managed educational programs that are inclusive and accessible. I understand the importance of creating learning environments that accommodate all students, ensuring that everyone has an equal opportunity to thrive.

My proficiency in iRead and initialIT further strengthens my ability to integrate technology into the classroom, enhancing student engagement and facilitating better learning outcomes for all, including those with disabilities.

As a passionate advocate for inclusivity and accessibility in education, I am eager to bring my expertise to an association for people with disabilities. I believe that my experience and commitment to innovation in education will be invaluable in advancing the association’s mission to support and empower individuals with disabilities, ensuring they have access to quality education and opportunities for growth.
